BEYOND THE PALE UNVEILS “THE SPICE BAG EDITION” AS BEYOND THE PLATE RETURNS TO GLENDALOUGH VALLEY
Beyond The Pale has revealed the first details of its 2026 food programme, announcing the return of Beyond The Plate with an exciting new theme, The Spice Bag Edition, curated by celebrated food writer and culinary curator Ali Dunworth. This June, Beyond The Plate is celebrating the global influence on Irish food, from the ancient spice routes and missionary monks to the settlers, immigrants, and innovators who’ve shaped how we eat today. The Spice Bag Edition explores the mix of culture, creativity, and rebellion that defines Irish food, tracing how global exchange and local ingenuity continue to push our food scene forward.
In true Beyond The Plate style, the stage will go “beyond the pale”, telling stories through flavour, sound, and conversation. Expect tastings, collaborations, and food-and-drink storytelling that blur the lines between history and what’s next. The area will explore the past and present of Irish hospitality from ancient trade routes to today’s multicultural kitchens and the people who keep reimagining what it means to eat, cook, and share food in modern Ireland.
Three of Dublin’s most exciting restaurants join the programme, with pre‑booking for festival‑goers opening in the coming weeks. Ranelagh’s Host brings primal, fire‑led cooking and generous shared plates; Reggie’s, the cult Rathmines pizzeria, brings its signature pies to the festival; and Ibíle serves bold West African flavours and spice‑driven dishes designed for sharing. Capacity for these sit‑down dining experiences is limited, with registration now open for first access before bookings go public via itsbeyondthepale.ie. Beyond The Pale continues to establish itself as one of Ireland’s most creatively led festivals, one where culinary craft sits alongside music, arts, and performance as a defining pillar of the weekend.
The three‑day festival also reveals its full music day‑by‑day lineups for the first time, marking one of the biggest moments of this year’s programme and confirming that limited Sunday day tickets, including Sunday night camping, will be available alongside weekend camping tickets. The announcement is amplified by 30 new music acts, with Dutch electronic favourite Tinlicker, global techno giant Ben Klock, and breakthrough Irish artist Dove Ellis, whose Beyond The Pale performance will be his only Irish show of summer 2026.

Beyond The Pale unveils the first look at this June’s arts lineup, with artist‑led programming taking centre stage across the Valley. This year’s arts and family programme will feature more than 75 artworks and events, with the full reveal landing in April. Early highlights include Shane Daniel Byrne’s Comedy Shithouse, a who’s who of alternative Irish comedy; Steo Wall presents The Pavee Club, showcasing outstanding talent from the Irish Traveller community; We Are Griot host a special festival edition of their ferocious spoken word event Talkatives; Outstraight Records bring their high-octane hip-hop takeover to the paddock; and Burning Circus debut a new dedicated area packed with headline fire shows, flow workshops and DJ sets. Arts programme director Jenny Jennings, renowned co‑creator of acclaimed theatre company THISISPOPBABYcomments “Special commissions and events remain at the heart of Beyond The Pale with Una Mullally’s Grianstad: The Trip, an immersive audio journey inspired by the land and myth of St Kevin, and Undercurrent, Ireland’s first bespoke festival flag commission created by Amyrose Bryan. Paahto & The Bull, John Frances Flynn’s new band, is also announced to spearhead an incredible Puc Fada lineup. These early teasers hint at the scale and ambition of the programme that stretches from circus and cabaret to theatre and spoken word, offering a tantalising taste of what’s to come in April’s full reveal.”
The Wicklow festival continues to elevate its boutique experience with luxury glamping, pre‑pitched bell tents, saunas, cold‑water dips, and the return of the Acushla wellness area, whose full programme will be announced in the coming weeks. A new karaoke pop‑up debuts in the main arena hosted by official charity partner Dublin Simon Community, alongside the return of the charity’s Beyond The Trail, with over half of this year’s places already snapped up following last year’s Wicklow Way hike that raised €19,000.
